The Google Science Fair is already over and the winners have been announced at the  awards ceremony held   Monday, July 23rd, 2012  in Palo Alto, California!! LEGO, a proud partner of this awesome scientific event was present and brought along some cool MINDSTORMS robot for the finalists to play with.  Featured this year was the work of  Vassilis Chryssanthakopoulos better know to us as NeXTSTORM or the Crazy Greek Robotic Expert ;)  His Real Steel Boxing robots where there along with an army of "Muhammad Ali" (soon to be a bonus models available on the MINDSTORMS page).   He is also the brains  behind one last challenge for the finalists:  The Fusion mission: Leading scientist working for the United Nations have found out, that a fusion of selected rare metals can create a new substance and commodity that more than doubles the performance compared to using the metals individually. The idea isn't new to us but the uses are always interesting. Scientists at Cambridge University used LEGO MINDSTORMS NXT robots to automate the creation of artificial bone-like structures. Understandably, they report that NXT robots proved to be much easier to set up and vastly more economical than more high-tech solutions. Other Science Research entities have reported the same bonus this toolkit has provided over the years and its not over by a long-shot. Google has announced the Google Science Fair 2012 , the largest Online Science competition in the world which takes place in partnership with The LEGO Group, CERN, National Geographic and Scientific American. Any youngster between 13 and 18 years, either alone or in teams up to for persons, can take part and hand in his or her Science project, presenting it on its own Google web site. At the end, the best projects will be awarded with great prizes. At the first Science Fair last year, over 7500 projects were handed in from 90 different countries, with a lot of LEGO® MINDSTORMS NXT amongst them. Take part! This is how you enter:

Last week, Google has announced a global online science competition, the Google Science Fair. Next to the NASA, Scientific American, National Geographic and CERN, one of the partners is The LEGO® Group. Any 13 - 18 year old (or according teams) all over the world can submit science projects (in English) in the categories CS & Math, Earth & Environmental Sciences, Behavioural & Social Sciences, Flora & Fauna, Energy & Space and Inventions & Innovation until first of April and win valuable prizes - the 15 best teams will invited to the Google Headquarters in California.
