Sioux.NET on Track is going to Lego World 2014

Here's a guest blog entry by the guys of Sioux .NET on Track : Sioux .NET on Track is a group of enthusiastic software engineers who come together after working hours to get more experienced with the Microsoft.NET technology. To make learning fun, they develop an application in C# and WPF for making a full automated Lego train, using Lego Mindstorms NXT, Lego Mindstorms EV3 and Lego Power functions. The full automated train layout will be displayed for the third year at Lego World 2014 in Utrecht, the Netherlands. Each year, they try to outdo themselves with more functionality and impressive techniques. For this year, the visitor (from age 4 to 99 or even older) can shoot a colour (red, green, blue, yellow) at the so called PUI Receiver. PUI is an abbreviation for Physical User Interface, according to Sioux.NET on Track this may be the new standard in usability after the touch screen J. The PUI shooters are build around two PF remote controls (art. 8885). After the visito...

LEGOWORLD 2008 (day 1)

Today was the first day of LEGOWORLD 2008 . At the MINDSTORMS booth we had a visit of Søren Lund (former Marketing Director MINDSTORMS), and I could show him and his family: The NXT-sans (an underwater excavator build for NI-week). We displayed it inside a large tank of water. (do not put motors or other electrical LEGO parts under water at home!) Also an almost 3 meter high ferries wheel, as part of a MGBC (Much Greater Ball Contraption= GBC with MINDSTORMS balls), the balls are first put in a basket that is picked up by the wheel, for a round, to clear out the basket at the other end. There the balls continue their journey in a train. Most of the books (including a pre-press version of the One-Kit Wonders ) are available for a look inside, and several models can be seen in real live. You can play with the new WEDO form LEGO Education. Various line followers are shown, and a copy of Steve’s Hassenplugs P-Sumo . See you there... Martyn

LEGOWORLD - Day 4

Sunday on LEGOWORLD - one could guess that this is one of the days where people are virtually flooding in. The Billund MINDSTORMS guys (Chief Steven, Technical Brain Flemming and Top Designer Joern) are off again for Denmark and have left not only some nice bags on our booth but also a lot of ideas for the future in our brains. Thanks to them again for their generosity. :-) Daniel Wittenaar spontaneously made an NXT ape that clawed his way over their booth. Intriguing! Sadly, my Zamor shooter that I built this morning to terrorize them did work quite well, but didn't make it over the distance. Have to work on that, though... ;-) Ah yes: we sold all our copies from the Idea book. Enjoy the pictures from my last day here - I'm positive that I'm going to feed on this experience for a considerable time. Images (from top to bottom) Noteworthy things about the Bowling Lane Building contest winners The Bowling Lane in action Trains, trains, trains! Part Vultures The production...

LEGOWORLD - Day 3

Wow, this has been a most memorable day on LEGOWORLD 2007 so far - masses of visitors and everywhere LEGO (R) builders discussing, building, presenting, inventing... an enormously creative and inspiring ambience. Amongst a lot of other things, I noticed that Martijn not only is an outstanding builder but also a very skilled salesman of the Idea book... ;-) Now the visitors are all gone, and the exhibitors' dinner is going to start soon - Steven is inviting the MCPs somewhere (and Martijn cares for the location). Let the images speak for themselves.
