by guest blogger Cyrus Cuenca Hello readers, On Dec 18th 2015, Star Wars: The Force Awakens, opened worldwide. In celebration of this occasion, members of the LEGO MINDSTORMS EV3 Facebook Group helped me put together all the Star Wars robots built with MINDSTORMS. I almost brought my 100% LEGO BB-8 robot to the premier, but the programming wasn't quite done yet. Anyways, the list of robots presented here range in complexity however, all of them are are super awesome! The first two robots I would like to display are my LEGO MINDSTORMS BB-8 robot, and Marc Andre Bazergui’s LEGO R2-D2. My LEGO MINDSTORMS BB-8 robot is based off a previous robot I built, called a WHEEL BIK3 . When I first saw BB-8 in the Star Wars: Episode 7 trailers, I immediately wanted to build one. However, once I got around to researching how BB-8 moves, it became apparent I wouldn't be able to built BB-8 the way people usually do, because LEGO doesn't make smooth hollow spheres ...

LEGO WORLD was a blast this year, last time I was invited there was in 2012 with my large WALL-E5 transforming robot.  This time I showed up with the large R2-EV3, small QUIZ-E (son of wall-e) and Andy's CREEP3R from Minecraft. The MINDSTORMS booth was right beside the red brick section the contrast was awesome. My friends Vassilis, Anika, Simon, Mike, Lasse & Kenneth, Martyn & Eric, Lee, Harald and Nicolai where also there with their robots and for the first time we thought of taking a group photo with all of the robots. We also had a group of Danish FLL kids helping us out. Here Yohannes is taking ownership of R2-EV3 and loving every moment of it; Half of the event we brought CREEPER at the official LEGO MINDCRAFT booth where he was a total success. July 15, 2013 - Changchun Landing to Changchun , China. Woohoo! However my luggage -including what's important …my EV3 robots- are still missing somewhere in Beijing (don't ask, my fault apparently).  A warm welcome from Eric Steenstra and LEGO Education’s territory manager at the airport and everything feels much better! It is a real pleasure for me to combine my very first post to the The NXT STEP (is EV3, of course!) with the Grand Opening of the most important LEGO event in Greece. This is the fourth year that the Greek LEGO Market Office organises the "LEGO Festival at The Mall Athens" and of course the LEGO MINDSTORMS product was present in all previous years. Especially last year, MINDSTORMS was the flag-ship product of the event, during which we had the honour to host bazmarc.ca with his Wall-E and Mike and Dave from UK with their amazing CubeStormer. This year, is another special year as we're hosting for the very first time in Greece, EV3RSTORM and all his gang R3PTAR, TRACK3R, GRIPP3R and SPIK3R. The Google Science Fair is already over and the winners have been announced at the  awards ceremony held   Monday, July 23rd, 2012  in Palo Alto, California!! News Flash!!   I'm boarding the plane in a few hours for a trans-Atlantic flight to Denmark as I have decided to join the Mindstorms team on another crazy LEGO filled adventure (some people enjoy the beach for their vacation... Here is some good news strait from Greece!!  Since the 19th of May,  the first LEGO Festival at The Mall Athens has started... Why post about it here you ask? well because a famous  Mindstorms master builder has helped organize the Mindstorms section of this huge event! Indeed NeXTSTORM can be spotted in the video below showing off his latest creation 3it3ot along with Alpha Rex, HoloEyedBug (his new holonomic bot) and many other NXT robots.   More good new?   ...it is going on till June 6th.   So jump in a plane, a train or out of the blue sea and head down to The Mall to play and enjoy all of the LEGO Themes and Mindstorms robots. Hi, My name is Marc-André Bazergui, bazmati or bazmarc on social media. Jim asked me to join The NXT Step as a contributor, It is a challenge I must accept and hope to bring information you will enjoy.  But first let me introduce myself. I'm a 42yo A dult F an O f L EGO Mindstorms , French Canadian living in Montreal, Quebec. It all started when the RCX took me out of my dark age. I have to admit I got charmed on the idea of mixing my newly found passion (computer) with an old one i had as a kid (LEGO). The Internet showed me i was not alone and provided me with answers idea and... new LEGO friends worldwide. I got my first NXT when it came out in 2006 and soon after joined QUELUG.org.  Back then we were 6 members, with only one other owning an NXT. My favorite LEGO Artist, NeXTSTORM has done it again! He has designed " The Magical NXTree and the Crystal Palace Dance " for his daughter, Alexandra, and all the others princesses out there. But don't let the girls have all the fun. Men and boys will still appreciate the amazing mechanics of this creation.

Today, Gizmodo reported about a new video  by NeXTSTORM , renowned for his outstanding NXT-driven MINDSTORMS theaters: Just three words from me:  Incredible.  Incredible.  Incredible.

Some fellow at the MCP pointed me to a very nice NXT-related web site by NeXTSTORM that presents a lot of interesting NXT models, alongside with pretty well-made movies and some LDD-based building instructions. One of my favorites: the " Ultimate 100 Meters Race ", including an ingenious analogue multi output device: Have a look there - it's worthwhile!
